General Tips for 18K Gold, 14K Gold, Gold Vermeil & Silver

Daily Care
- The hardness of 925 Sterling Silver is around 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale, while 18K gold measures approximately 2.8 and 14K gold ranges from 3.5 to 4. In comparison, diamond is rated at 10, making it the hardest material. Therefore, silver & gold is relatively soft.
- We recommend removing your jewelry before engaging in any activities that may cause physical damage.
- To prevent tarnish, it is better to take off your jewelry when handling harsh chemicals, washing your hands, swimming, bathing, or coming into contact with any potentially damaging substances.
- Wear the jewelry after applying skin care, cosmetics, fragrances & hair products.

How to Clean
- You can purchase a professional silver cleaning tool kit to clean your jewelry, or you can use mild soap to remove oil and dirt.
- After cleaning, dry your jewelry with a soft, clean cloth.
- Avoid brushing or rubbing your jewelry too vigorously, as its softness can lead to scratches on the surface.
- Polishing cloth need to be avoided, it will remove the plating layers of the jewelry, such as Gold Vermeil and Oxidized Silver pieces. Excessive or hard rubbing may remove any plating on the jewelry over time.
- Do not use steam cleaner or Ultrasonic to Gold Vermeil & Oxidized Silver jewelry, it will remove the plating layer as well.

How to Store
- Always clean and dry your jewelry before storing it, especially those do not wear regularly. However, the more frequent you wear Silver jewelry, the less maintenance you need to do.
- Keep it in a dry & cool place and store each piece separately to prevent abrasion and tarnishing.
- When storing your jewelry, avoid exposure to moisture, salt air, and chemicals (such as sulfur, chlorine, and bleach), as well as direct sunlight.
- You can keep your jewelry in a pouch or a jewelry box made of tarnish-proof cloth, or simply inside a plastic bag.
